Ages marked honestly, not optimistically. A nine-year-old knows when a book is beneath them.
Picture books are shelved face-out and low down, where the people buying them can actually reach. Nothing here is arranged to be admired by adults over the heads of children.
For young adult we mark the difficult ones rather than hide them. If a book deals with grief or violence, our card says so, and says at what age we would hand it over.
Not sure where to start? Tell us the last book you finished and roughly how it went. That is usually enough.
