This week’s shelf · no. 34
Ten books for a long October evening.
Chosen at the front counter on Monday morning, before the shop opens, by whoever has read the most that week. They stay on the shelf by the door until Sunday.
Two of these are translations. We have named the translators, because somebody wrote those sentences too.Maria Tsironi · front counterBrowse the whole shop
A bookshop in Pagrati, since 2014.
About 9,800 titles, which is small. Every one of them is here because a bookseller argued for it. We do not take payment for placement, and we do not stock by algorithm.
Athens publishers sit on the same table as New York and London ones. If a book exists in a good Greek translation we will usually recommend that one, and tell you who made it.
Order before two in the afternoon and it reaches central Athens the same evening. Free over €35. Everywhere else in Greece, two to three days.

Ymittou 42, Pagrati.
Five minutes downhill from the Kallimarmaro. The poetry table is the one by the window; the philosophy shelves are at the back, where it is quieter and the chairs are better.
