Staff picks.

One bookseller, one book, and the real reason rather than the blurb.

A staff pick here has to include why the person recommending it thought of you. Not the theme, not the prize it won, but the moment in the book that made them want to hand it over. We ask for one paragraph and we cut anything that sounds like a press release.

Picks stay on the table by the door for as long as the person who chose it is still arguing for it. Some have been there a year.
