Thirty of our seventy-two titles were written in Greek. That proportion is deliberate and we defend it.
Athens publishers sit on the same tables as New York and London ones, in the same sections, at the same eye level. We do not keep a separate Greek corner, because a separate corner is how a literature gets treated as a local speciality in its own city.
What we do keep is knowledge: which edition of Cavafy has the better apparatus, which Papadiamantis is readable without a dictionary, which contemporary novelist is about to be translated and is worth reading first in the original.
